Samuel Place is a senior policy advisor on secondment from the UK Government. Prior to joining the CEM team, Sam worked in the International Energy Unit, a specialist diplomatic unit spanning the UK’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) where he led international clean energy cooperation with advanced economies both bilaterally and multilaterally. Sam previously worked as a political consultant covering environment and climate issues, and worked in the House of Commons as a parliamentary researcher. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from University College London (UCL) where he specialised in international trade and investment into renewables projects, and a Bachelor’s degree from King’s College London. He is a British national.
